Motivated from gradient plasticity with plastic spin (non-symmetric plastic distortion) we present an extension of the classical Korn's inequality to incompatible tensor fields (lacking a gradient structure). The generalization encompasses Poincare's and Korn's inequality. Use is made of Maxwell-type compactness results. The result is based on joint work with K. Witsch and D. Pauly (U Duisburg-Essen).
