  • The research interests of the Algebra, Geometry, Logic team members deal with various aspects of these three parts of mathematics, as well as of mathematical physics. Lie Theory (and in particular algebraic group theory) is a partially unifying framework for these works.

Research themes

  • In Algebra and Geometry, we are particularly interested in the following subjects :
    • Representation theory : enveloping algebras and quantum analogues, representations of quivers, cluster algebras and categories.
    • Algebraic combinatorics : operads, lattices, trees.
    • Mathematical physics : quantification by deformation, Lie algebroids, cohomologie of Lie algebras, Lie Poisson groupoids, dynamical r-matrices.
    • Buildings : Tits systems, mazures.
    • Homogeneous dynamics : flow and diophantine applications.
    • Algebraic geometry : real algebraic geometry, algebraic geometry on arbitrary fields, enumerative geometry, spherical varieties and wonderful compactifications, arithmetic geometry, geometric invariant theory, Hilbert schemes, algebraic cycles, theory of motives, Calabi-Yau manifolds, hyperkähler manifolds.
    • Differential geometry : theory of immersions and embeddings, projective differential geometry.
    • Symplectic geometry and contact geometry : lagrangian Floer theory, symplectic field theory.
    • Microlocal analysis.
    • Discrete geometry
    • Complex analytic geometry : D-modules and singularities.
    • P-adic analytic geometry : rigid geometry and Berkovich spaces.
  • In Logic, we are particularly interested in the following subjects :
    • Pure model theory, stability and simplicity.
    • Model theory of groups and fields, groups and fields with model-theoretic properties.
    • Groups of finite Morley rank. Classification of simple groups, links with geometric theories and group theory.
    • Continuous logic and model theory of metric structures.
    • Descriptive set theory.
    • Also profinite structures, positive logic and algebraic complexity.
