Next HYP conference
HYP2008 took place at College Park, Maryland. HYP2010 will be held in Beijing, China.
Aim and scope
The aim of the conference was to bring together scientists working in the field of hyperbolic partial differential equations
(systems of conservation laws, wave-type equations, etc.) and related mathematical models (PDEs of mixed type, kinetic equations, nonlocal or/and discrete models, etc.), with points of view ranging from modeling to mathematical analysis, numerical analysis, and scientific computing.
Particular emphasis has been put on the interplay with applications, and some sessions have been devoted to specific applications
such as hydraulics, traffic flow, compressible fluid dynamics or Magnetohydrodynamics.
Regarding all aspects (theory, numerics, applications), multidimensional problems have received special attention.
The conference has been an occasion for young researchers to meet and interact with many senior researchers of the field.

Conference, organised
by C. Carasso, P.-A. Raviart, and D. Serre in Saint-Étienne,
the biennial series was back to France, after
visiting 8 countries and 3 continents.
