It gathers different options (majors), each of them beeing specialized in a specific field:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><a href=\"http:\/\/mastermas.univ-lyon1.fr\/index.php\/mathematiques-pour-lingenierie-de-la-simulation\/\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/mastermas.univ-lyon1.fr\/index.php\/major-mathematics-biology-and-medecine\/\">Mathematics, biology and medecine<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/mastermas.univ-lyon1.fr\/index.php\/mathematiques-pour-lingenierie-de-la-simulation\/\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/mastermas.univ-lyon1.fr\/index.php\/major-mathematics-envrionment-and-climate\/\">Mathematics, environment and climate<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/mastermas.univ-lyon1.fr\/index.php\/mathematiques-pour-lingenierie-de-la-simulation\/\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/mastermas.univ-lyon1.fr\/index.php\/major-mathematics-statistical-and-machine-learning\/\">Mathematics, statistical and machine learning<\/a><\/li><li><a href=\"http:\/\/mastermas.univ-lyon1.fr\/index.php\/mathematiques-pour-lingenierie-de-la-simulation\/\"><\/a><a href=\"https:\/\/mastermas.univ-lyon1.fr\/index.php\/major-mathematics-image-data\/\">Mathematics, images, data<\/a><\/li><li>Mathematics, high performance computing and simulation (held in St Etienne)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>In each of these options, several innovative mathematical concepts are  investigated, both in the numerical modelling and PDE fields, and in a statistical and stochastic framework. Few programs in France  propose such a mix, and the pedagogical crew promotes interactions in an  active way.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Each course switches to English as soon as a non French speaking student attends it.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2>Training program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>A first semester (from September to December) consisting of a <a href=\"https:\/\/mastermas.univ-lyon1.fr\/index.php\/curriculum-core\">core curriculum<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Refresher course in analysis, statistics and informatic<\/li><li>Deterministic modelling &#8211; 6 ECTS<\/li><li>Stochastic modelling and statistical learning &#8211; 6 ECTS<\/li><li>Optimisation and machine learning &#8211; 6 ECTS<\/li><li>Scientific english &#8211; 3 ECTS<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>A customised second semester (from January to March): choice of a major (4 courses) and of 2 additional courses. Each course corresponds to 3 ECTS. See the table below for a list of all the proposed courses. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An internship (from April to September) provinding 21 ECTS, corresponding to an initiation to research. This internship can be done in a laboratory or a company. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Major Mathematics, biology and medecine<\/strong><br> &#8211; Epidemiology<br> &#8211; Theoretical evolving biology<br> &#8211; Cellular dynamics and complex systems<br> &#8211; Spatial ecology modelling<br><br><br><\/td><td><strong>Major Mathematics, environment and climate<\/strong><br> &#8211; Risk assesment modelling and climate change<br> &#8211; Fluid mechanics equations and their numericla approximations <br> &#8211; Spatial ecology modelling<br> &#8211; Graphs and ecological networks<br><br><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Major Mathematics, image, data<\/strong><br> &#8211; Geometrical approaches for images and shapes. <br> &#8211; Variationnal methods for inverse problems in medical imagery. <br> &#8211; Sparsity and high dimension<br> &#8211; Neural networks<br><\/td><td><strong>Major Mathematics, statistical and machine learning<\/strong><br> &#8211; Neural networks<br> &#8211; Sparsity and high dimension<br> &#8211; Graphs and ecological networks<br> &#8211; Optimal Transport for statistical learning<br><\/td><\/tr><tr><td><strong>Major Mathematics, high performance computing and simulation<\/strong><br> &#8211; High performance computing<br> &#8211; Numerical simulation<br> &#8211; Exploitation of numerical simulators &#8211; Part I<br> &#8211; Exploitation of numerical simulators &#8211; Part II<br><\/td><td><\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The two remaining courses have to be chosen in an other major. As an exception, these courses might be selected in an other \u00ab\u00a0associated\u00a0\u00bb program (as the master Advanced Mathematics in the ENS Lyon) under the agreement of the teaching team.  <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Some examples of possible choices (the list is not exhaustive):<br>  &#8211; Major \u00ab\u00a0Mathematics, biology and medecine\u00a0\u00bb with a minor in imagery (\u00ab\u00a0<em>Geometrical approaches for images and shapes<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0<em>Variationnal methods for inverse problems in medical imagery.<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0). <br>  &#8211; Major \u00ab\u00a0Mathematics, environment and climate\u00a0\u00bb with a minor in statistical and machine learning (\u00ab\u00a0<em>Neural networks<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0<em>Sparsity and high dimension<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0). <br>  &#8211; Major \u00ab\u00a0Mathematics, statistical and machine learning\u00a0\u00bb with a minor in biology and medecine (\u00ab\u00a0<em>Epidemiology<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0<em>Cellular dynamics and complex systems<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0). <br>  &#8211; &#8230;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The major \u00ab\u00a0Mathematics, high performance computing and simulation\u00a0\u00bb will be held in Saint-Etienne (with the same curriculum core). For this major, the two additional courses are mandatory and are \u00ab\u00a0<em>Mathematical methods for high dimension<\/em>\u00a0\u00bb and \u00ab\u00a0<em>Random Graphs<\/em>\u00ab\u00a0. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<div style=\"height:29px\" aria-hidden=\"true\" class=\"wp-block-spacer\"><\/div>\n\n\n\n<h3><strong>Admission<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The selection is based on the student&rsquo;s application form. A first year in a Master&rsquo;s program is required. Possible admissions with a bachelor degree.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The online application form will be open between in May and June. Depending on you country, you should apply through the Campus France portal. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Maths in Action<\/strong> and the first year of the master program <strong>Applied mathematics, statistics<\/strong> are eligible for scholarships provided by the <a href=\"https:\/\/milyon.universite-lyon.fr\/scholarships-2022-130865.kjsp?RH=EN-MILYON-9659410765\">Labex Milyon<\/a>. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The master program<em><strong> Maths en action<\/strong><\/em> is co-accredited with the following institutions <a href=\"http:\/\/option-md.ec-lyon.fr\/MIR.php?item=Masters\">Ecole Centrale de Lyon<\/a>, l\u2019<a href=\"http:\/\/www.ens-lyon.fr\/\">Ecole Normale Sup\u00e9rieure de Lyon,<\/a>&nbsp;l\u2019<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mines-stetienne.fr\/\">Ecole des Mines de Saint-Etienne<\/a>, and <a href=\"https:\/\/www.univ-st-etienne.fr\/fr\/index.html\">Universit\u00e9 Jean-Monnet<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/polytech.univ-lyon1.fr\/\">Polytech Lyon<\/a> is also a partner of this program. <br><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Master 2&nbsp; \u00ab\u00a0Maths in action : from concept to innovation\u00a0\u00bb&nbsp; aims at providing a strong education in research, with a close link with applications.
